BMW Recalls 2,846 MY 2011-2012 Vehicles

April 25, 2012

WASHINGTON – BMW of North America LLC is recalling 2,846 2011 model-year 5 Series and 5 Series Gran Turismo vehicles, along with 2012 model-year 6 Series, 7 Series, X5 SAV and X6 SAV vehicles, because the circuit board for the electric auxiliary water pump might overheat.

All of the vehicles covered in the recall are equipped with 8- or 12-cylinder turbocharged engines, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration reported. The problem poses a smoldering or fire risk.

BMW dealers will replace the auxiliary water pump free of charge

Vehicle owners can reach BMW at (800) 525-7417.
