WASHINGTON – Nissan North America is recalling 14,718 2011 and 2012 model year vehicles because they may have faulty bolts that connect the engine oil cooler and the engine oil filter to the engine.

The recall affects the 2011 Infiniti FX, 2012 Infiniti M, 2012 Nissan Frontier, 2012 Nissan NV, 2011-2012 Nissan Pathfinder and 2011-2012 Nissan Xterra.

According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, the bolts in question may have been manufactured to below specification strength. As a result, they run the risk of breaking at the oil filter attachment point and causing an engine oil leak. This poses a safety risk.

Nissan dealers will replace the connector bolts free of charge. The recall is expected to get under way later this month.

Vehicle owners can reach Nissan at (800) 647-7261.
