WASHINGTON – Terex South Dakota Inc. is recalling more than 5,100 model-year 1997-2009 XT55 aerial devices mounted on Ford E-Series trucks typically used by tree trimmers and utility workers, reported the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.

Cracks can develop around the lower boom hinge pin boss at the turntable. This problem, if not addressed, can eventually lead to failure of the plates. As a result, there could be unexpected motion of the boom, which could cause the platform to fall, the NHTSA said. This poses a serious safety risk to workers standing on the platform.

Terex will notify owners of the recall and make repairs free of charge.

Terex can be reached at (605) 884-3892.
