WASHINGTON - General Motors is recalling 2,100 model-year 2011 Chevrolet Cruze vehicles because of a potential steering wheel problem, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.

During manufacturing, the steering wheel might have been improperly fastened. If the steering wheel detaches from the steering column, a driver could lose steering control.

Dealers will perform an inspection to ensure that the steering wheel is assembled properly. There will be no charge for this service.

Vehicles owners can reach Chevrolet at (800) 630-2438.
