ARLINGTON, VA - The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety said it has given its highest rating of "good" to the Mazda2 minicar for frontal crash protection and for roof strength in rollover crashes.

The IIHS rated the same car "acceptable" for side-impact protection and also "acceptable" for protection against whiplash injury in rear impacts.

The IIHS is a nonprofit research and communications organization funded by auto insurers.
