WASHINGTON - Nova Bus Inc. is recalling 139 MY 2007-2010 Nova LFS transit buses equipped with Bendix ABS/ATC valves and V-BEA multiplexing system.

The problem is that whenever the parking brake of the vehicle's brake interlock is applied, the ATC system's sensors could falsely detect the movement of a wheel. The ATC system could misinterpret this situation as wheel spin, subsequently applying and releasing the applied brakes. The vehicle could then move unexpectedly, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration said.

The vehicle may move inadvertently even when the parking brake is applied, increasing the risk of a crash.

Dealers will reprogram the system and the engine's ECU free of charge.

Owners can reach Nova Bus at (450) 472-6410.
