Insurance Institute for Highway Safety Elects Chairman

January 20, 2010

ARLINGTON, VA --- The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety has elected Jonathan Bennett as chairman of its board of directors.

Bennett is executive vice president of personal and small business insurance at the Hartford. He succeeds Gregory V. Ostergren, chairman, president, and CEO of American National Property and Casualty Companies. Ostergren served as IIHS chairman during 2009 and will continue to serve as a member of the board.

"The institute's work to help reduce crash injuries, deaths, and property damage on our nation's roads is as important as ever," Bennett said. "IIHS research and communications programs have had a significant and positive impact, and I look forward to working with my colleagues and fellow board members this year to advance highway safety in the new decade."

IIHS President Adrian Lund added: "Jonathan's strong leadership will help us continue to build on our successful research and crash test programs in 2010."
