WASHINGTON, D.C. --- Subaru of America is recalling more than 5,700 MY 2002-2003 Impreza WRX vehicles because of a potential problem with the fuel delivery line.

During cold starts, typically under extremely cold temperatures, fuel leaks in the fuel delivery line could occur where the line connects with a rubber hose, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. Fuel leaks increase the risk of fire.

The safety recall affects those vehicles originally sold in, or currently registered in, the states of South Dakota, Nebraska, North Dakota, Minnesota, Idaho, Iowa, Montana, Colorado, Wisconsin, New York, Wyoming, Michigan, Arkansas, New Hampshire, Vermont and Maine.

Dealers will replace the fuel line free of charge. The recall is expected to begin in January.

Vehicle owners can reach Subaru at (800) 782-2783.
