LIGHTHOUSE POINT, FL - Driver's Alert, a pioneer in the fleet safety and risk reduction industry, announced it is co-sponsoring the North Carolina Fleet Forum on Friday, Nov. 20 from 9 a.m. - 2 p.m. ET at the City of Durham, N.C. Fleet Facility. Driver's Alert will present its new Smart Risk program, which is designed to help fleets identify drivers that are at high risk to cause their next at-fault crash, so they can prevent it from occurring. Other event sponsors include Government Fleet Magazine, Clean Cities North Carolina and 100 Best Fleets in North America.

Focusing on "Implementing Best Business Practices", the event is targeted specifically for public sector fleet managers throughout the Southeast.  Featured speakers will include Ed Finnegan, State Auto Insurance Program Officer, Department of Administrative Services for the State of Georgia. With a fleet size of over 20,000 vehicles and 125,000 state employees, the State of Georgia has one of the largest fleets in the country. While the Risk Management Services Department utilizes several loss control strategies including Driver's Alert, the centralized Office of Fleet Management initiates vital strategies to reduce operational costs and more effectively manage the State's fleet.

Finnegan will share his State's success in reducing the annual number of insurance claims and associated expense dollars.  The State, which is self-insured, implemented the Driver's Alert Smart Risk program, which was selected following a competitive bid. After the first three months of working with Driver's Alert and implementing other sweeping loss control measures, Georgia's vehicular accidents were down 21 percent from the same three-month period in 2008 at a savings of approximately $130,000 in property damage claims to the State of Georgia taxpayers.

At the North Carolina November 20th Fleet Forum, Tom C. Johnson, author of the '100 Best Fleets in North America' and 'Government Green Fleet' contests, will facilitate discussions on solutions to common fleet problems. Additionally, a roundtable discussion will be facilitated by four of the top 40 Government Green Fleets and four of the 100 Best Fleets in the country.

Commenting on the event, Johnson said:  "One of the most prevalent issues for government fleet managers today is how to contain costs.  Now in its 10th year, The 100 Best Fleets in North America has a tradition of bringing together fleet leaders from around the country who want to hear from peers and experts in their field. These roundtable discussions allow for formal presentations and informal networking opportunities throughout the day. Attendees are able to share their current common challenges and most importantly, hear solutions from peers in similar situations. We believe the North Carolina Fleet Forum, sponsored in part by Driver's Alert and featuring the State of Georgia's case study with dramatic cost saving results, will be one of our best."

Registration for the event is open to all government fleet and risk reduction services personnel. To register, go to www.the100bestfleets.com
