WASHINGTON, D.C. --- Daimler Trucks North America is recalling certain MY 2005-2010 heavy duty trucks because the left-hand inner tie rod end runs the risk of loosening over time and potentially separating from the steering rack.

A separated tie rod assembly can result in loss of vehicle control at higher speeds.

Daimler Trucks will notify truck owners of the recall, and repairs will be made free of charge. An estimated 8,882 vehicles will be affected by the recall, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.

Daimler Trucks can be reached at (800) 547-0712.
