Automotive Medicine Group to Highlight Latest Research

September 30, 2009

BALTIMORE, MD --- There aren't many conferences that bring together leaders in both the automotive and healthcare worlds, but each year the Association for the Advancement of Automotive Medicine holds such an event.

The AAAM is a professional multidisciplinary organization dedicated to vehicle crash injury prevention and control. Its 53rd annual Scientific Conference, co-sponsored by the Maryland State Medical Society, will be held Oct. 4-7 at the Hilton Baltimore.

Everyone from neurosurgeons and emergency medical personnel to vehicle design engineers and crash investigators will attend. The scheduled sessions include such titles as "Splenic Trauma as an Adverse Effect of Torso-Protecting Side Airbags," "Bilateral Carotid Artery Injury Response in Side Impact Using a Vessel Model Integrated with a Human Body Model," "Crash Risks for Drivers With Seizures and Epilepsy," "Differential Rollover Risk in Vehicle-to-Traffic Barrier Collisions," and "Identifying Critical Road Geometry Parameters Affecting Crash Rate and Crash Type."

These session titles might not roll off your tongue easily, but the conference program reflects cutting-edge research that will ultimately help make tomorrow's vehicles more safe and the means for treating crash injuries more effective.
