SCOTTSDALE, AZ – American Traffic Solutions, Inc. (ATS), which serves more than 120 communities in 19 states with speed and red-light camera enforcement programs, announced that the International Association of Chiefs of Police (IACP) has formally certified the company's state-of-the-art speed enforcement technology. The certification follows testing to confirm that ATS has met all the speed-measuring models and requirements of the Speed-Measuring Device Performance Specifications as adopted and published by the Highway Safety Committee of the International Association of Chiefs of Police, according to Business Wire.

"We are pleased to receive this important certification from the International Association of Chiefs of Police," said James Tuton, president and CEO of American Traffic Solutions. "IACP certification has become a significant quality standard for the use of photo traffic enforcement systems in the United States. Currently, only four such systems have achieved the coveted IACP certifications. ATS is the only IACP certified system which is made in the USA."

Studies prove that automated speed enforcement cameras substantially reduce speeding on all types of roadways, thus reducing the number of injury crashes anywhere from 20 to 50 percent.

The independent testing for certification was completed by The Technology Clearinghouse, which was established in 1997 through a cooperative agreement between the IACP, the Federal Highway Administration and the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. The Technology Clearinghouse quickly evolved into the exclusive resource for objective law enforcement automated data collection and information management technology.
