North Texas Sniper Suspect Arrested

July 02, 2008

GARLAND, TX --- Police have taken into a custody a 22-year-old man who is suspected of shooting at motorists in Garland, Mesquite, Richardson and Plano, Texas, the Dallas News reported.

Though Garland police declined to release the suspect's name, they did say he would face charges of aggravated assault, endangering a child and deadly conduct.

Three people were injured earlier this week during a rash of suburban shootings that took place over three days. One of the shootings occurred Tuesday, July 1, on the Bush Turnpike. Police are investigating whether the suspect is responsible for all six shootings in suburban North Texas.

Garland police made the arrest later Tuesday, after witnesses saw a Honda pull into a restaurant parking lot in Garland. The driver got out of the car, walked to the restaurant and fired his gun into a wall below the windows. After firing the gun, he returned to his car and drove away. Nobody was injured during that incident. About 90 minutes later, police spotted a car matching the description, pulled over the driver, and found a pistol in the car. The driver was then taken into custody, the Dallas News reported.
