WASHINGTON, D.C. --- Nissan Motor Co. is recalling 140,582 2007 Altimas because the air filter poses a fire risk when a hot object, such as a cigarette ash, is drawn into it. It's possible for a cigarette ash to enter the air filter through the vehicle's fresh-air intake valve. According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, the recall affects Altima models with a 2.5-liter, four-cylinder engine. The filters will be replaced and air deflectors will also be installed to prevent buildup of debris at the filter, the Kansas City Star reported.
