'08 Lancer Earns Good Safety Rating from Insurance Institute for Highway Safety

May 03, 2007

ARLINGTON, Va. --- The 2008 model of the Mitsubishi Lancer has earned an overall good safety rating from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety, based on frontal crash test results. In crash tests, dummy movement was well controlled, the Institute reported. The driver side curtain airbag deployed during the crash, and the dummy's head rebounded into the side airbag without coming close to any stiff structure that could cause injury."Measures taken from the dummy indicate a low risk of any significant injuries in a crash of this severity," the Institute noted.Vehicle safety features include front and rear head curtain airbags and front seat-mounted torso airbags, antilock brakes and daytime running lights.
