Chrysler Recalls Nearly 500,000 Vehicles

WASHINGTON, D.C. --- DaimlerChrysler AG's Chrysler Group is recalling nearly 500,000 vehicles, including Jeep Liberty SUVs, Dodge Avengers and Durangos.Chrysler is recalling 328,424 Durangos because of reported fires in the 2004-2006 model years, the AP reported. The fires are associated with electrical overloads in the driver's-side instrument panel below the dashboard. Also recalled are 149,605 Jeep Liberty SUVs from the 2006-2007 model years in order to repair the heating-ventilation-air conditioning blower motor.In addition, Chrysler is recalling nearly 11,000 Dodge Avenger cars from the 2008 model year to repair problems with the front driver and passenger side door latches.
