WASHINGTON, D.C. --- DaimlerChrysler AG's Chrysler Group is recalling nearly 500,000 vehicles, including Jeep Liberty SUVs, Dodge Avengers and Durangos. Chrysler is recalling 328,424 Durangos because of reported fires in the 2004-2006 model years, the AP reported. The fires are associated with electrical overloads in the driver's-side instrument panel below the dashboard. Also recalled are 149,605 Jeep Liberty SUVs from the 2006-2007 model years in order to repair the heating-ventilation-air conditioning blower motor. In addition, Chrysler is recalling nearly 11,000 Dodge Avenger cars from the 2008 model year to repair problems with the front driver and passenger side door latches.
