Detroit City Council Approves Cell Phone Ban

DETROIT – The Detroit City Council has passed a cell phone ban for the City of Detroit, according to the Web site www.clickondetroit.com The council voted 8-1 in favor of the ban. Violators can be ticketed and fined.
Council members said drivers could still use hands-free phones. Detroit Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick must also approve the ban.
