The Chrysler Group has changed its official name change to FCA US, the company announced on Dec. 16.

The name change will not affect its headquarters location, which will continue in Auburn Hills, Mich., according to a press release from the company.

The name will now be consistent with its parent company Fiat Chrysler Automobiles, which is based in the Netherlands. Chrysler and Italy-based Fiat SpA formally merged earlier this year, after Fiat acquired a large share of Chrysler following its bankruptcy filing in 2009.

The Fiat Chrysler Automobiles name was first adopted in October when company shares were listed on the New York Stock Exchange.

FCA US employs more than 77,000 employees worldwide, with 96 percent of its workforce based in North America. FCA US operates 36 manufacturing facilities, including 23 in the United States, six in Canada and seven in Mexico.
