Carfax Offers Special Rate on Vehicle History Reports in Effort to Help Texans Identify Stolen Vehicles

July 15, 2004

The Texas Department of Transportation reports that more than 100,000 vehicles are stolen every year in Texas, with more than 9,000 thefts occurring in the month of July alone. As a result, state authorities have designated July as Auto Theft Prevention Month. Carfax is offering consumers throughout Texas a discounted rate on its reports during this month in recognition of the program. Many vehicles that have been reported stolen are flagged in the Carfax report using the 17-digit vehicle identification number (VIN). In the past year, Carfax helped recover approximately 198 vehicles by working with law enforcement agencies and government organizations.
