On May 14, Charleston Auto Auction staff marked the first anniversary of its new facility by hosting the first annual Luau and Pig-Pickin’ Breakfast sale, featuring the music of Jimmy Buffett, a lineup of more than 600 vehicles, and a $35,000 cash and prize giveaway. The auction featured 75 fleet units from Wheels. With every Wheels vehicle purchased, buyers received a Luau shirt. Total institutional offerings were expected to exceed 150 units, with consignments from ARI, Enterprise, North Carolina Bank and Trust, Emkay, First Investors, American Finance, East Coast Credit and Leasing, American General, Fleet Lease Disposal, Saxon Fleet, and Sprint. All customers who bought, sold, or consigned vehicles qualified to play Charleston’s “plink board” to win a variety of prizes, including $15,000 in cash, a 16-foot Carolina skiffboat and trailer, and a complete tiki bar.
