Carl Nelson, fleet manager for AM-Liner East, Inc. in Berryville, Va., announced his retirement. While at AM-Liner East, Inc., Nelson won the 2012 Larry Goill Memorial Quality Fleet Management Idea award presented by NAFA.
Prior to joining AM-Liner East, Inc., Nelson was the motor vehicle administrator for AT&T Corp. He retired from the company in 2004, following a 38-½ year career. Nelson was involved with AT&T fleet operations during the last 13 years of his career.
At its peak size, Nelson managed more than 5,000 units for AT&T in all 50 states and Puerto Rico. During his fleet tenure at AT&T, Nelson earned a certified automotive fleet manager (CAFM) designation from NAFA and was the winner of two Larry Goill Awards presented by NAFA for fleet management innovation.
Although not looking for a full-time position, Nelson said he would be willing to help out with special projects or consulting following retirement from AM-Liner East, Inc. "Fleet has been very good to me and I would be happy to give back if anyone would find my years of experience helpful," he said.
