NexTraq, the leading GPS fleet tracking and fleet management company, announced that it has successfully completed the MultiSpeak interoperability test with Milsoft. The integration enables the NexTraq Fleet Tracking solution to work with Milsoft’s outage management system to offer utility and electric cooperatives a complete solution.

The NexTraq Fleet Tracking solution enables utility companies to provide better customer service while increasing fleet productivity. Joey Murphy, Vice President of Finance and Customer Service for Columbus Water Works, said, “Being able to establish the closest vehicle to a customer service call enabled all of our groups – meter reading, meter services, water distribution and wastewater collection - to respond quickly through a simple message from our dispatchers.”

“Distribution utilities across the country are searching for new applications that can help improve reliability for their members. In achieving compliance with the MultiSpeak specification assuring interoperability with Milsoft’s Outage Management System, NexTraq is reducing the costs of implementation for distribution utilities,” said Bob Saint, Program Manager for NRECA’s MultiSpeak Initiative.

MultiSpeak helps utilities introduce smart grid technology by ensuring that solutions:

  • Are ready to implement
  • Have been proof-tested in existing installations
  • Offer true interoperability with off-the-shelf products
  • Allow product development that does not require extensive customization

Mike Scarbrough, CEO of NexTraq, said, “By extending the functionality of our fleet tracking solution, utility companies can streamline their processes. NexTraq partners with companies that provide additional benefits to our customers, so we can stay focused on providing the most complete fleet management solution in the telematics marketplace.”
