Hammer Named GM Law Enforcement Vehicle Manager

May 18, 2009

General Motors Fleet and Commercial Operations has appointed Dana Hammer, a 25-year employee, as manager, Law Enforcement Vehicles. Hammer's GM career has been primarily spent at Chevrolet, managing the Chevrolet and GMC Business Central dealer programs, and also serving as key manager of the GM Certified Used Vehicle program.

"In the current resource constrained environment, we are dedicated to the law enforcement and government market and are pleased to appoint someone of Dana's capability to this critical function," said Jim Campbell, general manager, GM Fleet & Commercial Operations.

Hammer succeeds Bruce Wiley, who passed away in December 2008 after a long battle with cancer. "Bruce was a business associate and personal friend to so many people within the GM team and he will be greatly missed. We are proud that he was part of our team," said Joyce Mattman, director commercial product, GM Fleet & Commercial Operations.

Hammer received a bachelor's degree from University of Wisconsin - Stout and an MBA from Oakland University, Rochester, Mich., and is also a former ASE Certified Automotive Technician.

Im just wondering if the future of the Caprice is uncertain, would production continue in this country and also has the cost of shipping from Australia hurt sales of the PPV?....I had a conversation with the Michigan State Police who do all the testing and evaluations of Police cars and he told me the reason he did not pick the Chevy PPV was he could not justify the added cost of a 4,000.00 dollar shipping charge per vehicle and he was "on the fence" between the Dodge and the Chevy, which he wanted, and had to go with the Dodge.... Can I please get a responce....Thank you

Hi, Tim, Holden will continue to manufacture vehicles until late 2017, so there is nearly 4 more years of production at the plant. And although we can't comment specifically on Michigan State Police pricing, we can assure customers that the shipping cost is not $4,000. Our price position has recently improved considerably and I would encourage you to contact your Chevrolet dealer for more information, as pricing can vary by state.
