COLUMBUS, OH – Safelite AutoGlass recently donated nearly 5,000 items of food to the Mid-Ohio Food Bank during its annual Operation FEED campaign, making 2008 the biggest year in Safelites 14-year history of donating to the event. Safelite, a vehicle glass repair and replacement company, encouraged its employees to take part in some friendly competition to determine which floor of the five-floor corporate headquarters could provide the most items of food by donating funds, buying food directly, or by purchasing as much as they could with donated funds.

"Our associates were excited to be involved with this project and the response we saw was wonderful," said Nancy Hucle, Operation FEED coordinator for Safelite. "We had wonderful support from the community as well Enterprise Rent-A-Car. It donated a large truck overnight for us to transport all of the food to the food bank while a few local grocery stores got behind our effort by donating several pallets of food."

Hucle has been coordinator for Operation FEED since Safelite began participating in the annual event 14 years ago. The Safelite team donated a total of 4,792 pounds of food this year. Operation FEED is an annual program, held from March 11–June 30 this year.
