Ellis Saunders, oldest of the four members of the original Saunders family that originated the automotive rental business 52 years ago, died November 4, in Kasas City, Mo., at the age of 83. Mr. Saunders had been inactive in the business, Saunders Leasing System, since his retirement as vice president of the Kansas City operation in 1962. With his three brothers, Saunders conceived and launched the industry of car and truck renting and leasing in Omaha in 1916. His younger brother, Harris, is chairman of the board of Saunders Leasing System.
