Merchants Fleet Management is sponsoring the 2016 Fleet Visionary awards, the fleet management company has announced.

The Fleet Visionary awards, presented by Bobit Business Media, will be presented at the Fleet Technology Expo (FTX), which will be held Oct. 17 to 19 in Schaumbrg, Ill. The award celebrates new voices in fleet management and someone who has brought a new perspective to running a commercial fleet resulting in a fleet that is more operationally efficient, cost-effective, safer, or any combination of these.

“Many industry awards recognize those who have been in the fleet space for many years.  We wanted an award to spotlight those newer to the space that are elevating the fleet industry with innovative and visionary thinking,” said Eric Bearly, a Bobit Business Media publisher.

A total of 20 recipients of the Fleet Visionary Award will be announced at the ceremony on Oct. 19 at FTX. Of these 20 recipients one will be awarded the Fleet Visionary of the Year Award. Dan Hannan, executive director of strategic consulting at Merchants Fleet Management, will be presenting the award.

"We chose to sponsor the Fleet Visionary Award because we value visionary and innovative thinking. We want to continue to elevate the fleet industry and celebrate those doing great things for fleet management," said Hannan.

Merchants will also be participating in a panel discussion at FTX "Do You Keep Vehicles in Service Too Long” on Oct. 19. Brad Jacobs, director strategic consulting, will be on the panel discussing this topic focusing on how to determine the right cycle timing for fleets. Jacobs will be joined on the panel by other fleet professional, and it will be moderated by Chris Wolski, managing editor at Bobit Business Media.
