Wheels, Inc., has hired e-commerce industry veteran Tim O'Hara as its new chief information officer, the fleet management company has announced.

O'Hara joined the company May 1 as the head of the company's information technology departments. O'Hara will lead initiative to develop and manage client-facing applications, systems infrastructure, as well as security, telecommunications, internal networks, and business continuance functions. He brings nearly 25 years of management experience in IT applications and enterprise systems optimization.

O'Hara replaces John Higginson, who has left the company. Higginson joined Wheels in February of 2014 as chief technology officer.

O'Hara spent the last 19 years at United Stationers, Inc., a $5.3 billion wholesale distribution company, where he rose to the rank of senior vice president and chief technology officer. As CTO, he was responsible for overall IT strategy and initiatives. He led corporate-wide enterprise IT strategy and modernization planning projects, built a state-of-the-art e-commerce web application for resellers, and launched a content portal that streamlined supplier integration.

Prior to United Stationers, O'Hara served as a senior consultant at Fujitsu Consulting, the business integration and information services arm of multinational IT giant Fujitsu, Ltd.
