Wheels Inc., has hired John Higginson as its chief technology officer, the company announced.

Higginson, who joined the fleet management company on January 2, heads up the company's information technology departments with more than 23 years of experience in eCommerce. Higginson will develop and manage the company's client-facing applications, systems infrastructure and security, telecommunications, internal networks, and business continuance functions.

Higginson arrives from FTD Companies, Inc., where he served as CTO from 2010 to 2013. He oversaw one of the largest retail websites in North America for the floral retailer.

Prior to FTD, Higginson spend 14 years at Applied Systems, Inc., where he reached the role of executive vice president of technology.

"John has an impressive level of experience and expertise in designing user-centric systems that feature an optimal blend of performance, sustainability and intuitiveness," said Dan Frank, president of Wheels Services, a division of Wheels Inc.

Higginson is the second addition to the c-suite in a month for Wheels, who hired Sandra Wilson as chief operating officer in early December.
