Porsche Cayenne Plug-In Hybrid Confirmed

Porsche will produce a plug-in hybrid Cayenne SUV as one of more than 100 new models introduced by the Volkswagen Group "this year and next year," the automaker announced Feb. 13.

Porsche has been producing its Cayenne Hybrid S since the 2011 model-year. The vehicle launched in the U.S. market in November of 2010. The Cayenne Hybrid S is powered by a 3.0L V-6 engine and 47 hp electric motor.

In the 2012 calendar year, fleets added 53 Cayenne Hybrids, according the the Automotive Fleet Fact Book.
