XL Hybrids has developed a gasoline-electric hybrid powertrain for Ford E-Series cutaway and stripped chassis vans, the vehicle modifier announced at the Work Truck Show in Indianapolis.

The company showed its XL3 Hybrid Electric Drive System, which had been added to a Ford E-350 cutaway chassis, at the trade show. The hybrid powertain will increase the number of miles drive by 25 percent, according to an XL Hybrids release.

The system is now available on the Ford E-350 cutaway and Ford E-450 cutaway, and is coming soon to the E-350 and E-450 stripped chassis and GMC Savana 3500 and 4500 cutaway.

XL Hybrids previously developed a version of its XL3 hybrid powertrain for the Chevrolet Express. Coca-Cola added 100 of those vehicles to its delivery fleet.
