DENVER --- The Democratic National Convention, General Motors and the Molson Coors Brewing Co. are collaborating to make sure VIPs at the upcoming convention will ride in GM vehicles fueled with ethanol that comes, in part, from beer, according to an Edmunds.com report.

The fuel will come from Colorado-based Molson Coors. The so-called "waste beer" is being regenerated into some 3 million gallons of vehicle-ready ethanol each year.

The GM fleet includes vehicles already capable of running on E85. The 400 hybrid and flex-fuel vehicles will be driving Democratic Party officials, government leaders and various dignitaries around the Denver area during the four-day convention, which gets underway August 25.

GM plans to make half its vehicles flex-fuel capable by 2012.
