TORRANCE, CA – Toyota and the automaker’s Lexus brand plan to unveil an “advanced active safety research vehicle” at the 2013 Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas. On Monday, Jan. 7 (Pacific time) Lexus Group Vice President and General Manager Mark Templin plans to discuss the program, which is based in North America, and how it’s designed to explore the use of autonomous vehicle technologies and “high level” driver assistance systems related to Toyota’s Integrated Safety Management Concept.

Toyota added that Templin will discuss Toyota’s Intelligent Transport Systems research and development efforts, which focuses on vehicle-to-vehicle and vehicle-to-infrastructure communications technology.

Toyota said it plans to show the active safety research vehicle, its ITS system, and the 2013 Lexus LS at the Lexus display at the Las Vegas Convention Center from Jan. 8–11.
