SCOTTSDALE, AZ - GPS Insight, a leading provider of GPS tracking solutions for commercial and municipal fleets, and the National Information Solutions Cooperative (NISC) announced a partnership that integrates GPS Insight’s tracking technology into NISC’s Outage Management System, SmartTrack and GIS solutions.

“Our partnership consists of us feeding location-based data into NISC’s iVUE software, allowing cooperatives to realize benefits including increased safety, shorter response times and work order scheduling and tracking.”

The partnership between GPS Insight and NISC allows utility cooperatives to track their resources and service teams, giving them the ability to deploy resources in the most efficient and effective means possible.

“The integration between NISC and GPS Insight will allow NISC Members to serve their memberships in a more effective manner,” said Andy Fink, Engineering Consultant for NISC. “With this iVUE integration, NISC’s Members can better manage their day-to-day tasks as well as easily handle critical or trouble-ticket situations.”

With the GPS tracking data provided by GPS Insight, Members can use iVUE’s mapping solutions to determine where technicians are located, see who is the closest to an issue and dispatch the unit to resolve the problem. Because East Central Energy, located in Braham, Minn., uses iVUE heavily for its day-to-day operations, it needed a GPS tracking solution that could integrate with NISC’s iVUE software. East Central was able to turn to GPS Insight, a leading provider of GPS tracking technology, for that integration.

“Our system control personnel rely on the integrated piece from NISC and GPS Insight during outages and other service situations,” said Linda LaTourelle, Technology Manager for East Central Energy. “They can look at our map and get an idea of where our vehicles are in relation to outages and other work in the field.”

Joe Vidmar, Senior Account Manager for GPS Insight, said the company’s GPS tracking technology is able to enhance the efficiency of cooperative crews by providing real-time workforce visibility.

“Our partnership consists of us feeding location-based data into NISC’s iVUE software, allowing cooperatives to realize benefits including increased safety, shorter response times and work order scheduling and tracking,” Vidmar said.
