Uber launched its UberONE smartphone app option in Dubai, providing passengers a ride in one of 50 Tesla Model S or Model X vehicles, according to Green Car Reports.

The zero-emission option is available to users at a slightly higher rate than standard Uber fare. The addition of 50 Tesla cars to Uber's fleet is part of a partnership with the Dubai Taxi Corporation, which plans to bolster its own fleet with 200 Tesla model this year.

Uber also announced plans to add an additional 150 Tesla vehicles to its fleet over 2018 and 2019, reports the Associated Press.

The electric vehicles are also equipped with semi self-driving capabilities, and their adoption is part of the Dubai Future Foundation's efforts to have autonomous cars provide 25% of transportation in Dubai by 2030.
