Ford has announced changes in its senior leadership in South America and Europe, including new appointments for vice president of Ford Motor Company and president of Ford South America.

Lyle Watters has been appointed vice president and president of Ford South America effective Aug. 1. Watters leaves his role as chief financial officer and vice president of finance and strategic planning for Ford of Europe. He will be responsible for leading operations for the automaker in South America and will serve as a corporate officer.

Watters will succeed Steven Armstrong, who has been named vice president and chief operating officer of Ford of Europe, effective Sept. 1. Armstrong will succeed Barb Samardzich, who will retire from her position as vice president and chief operating officer of Ford of Europe in October, after more than 26 years with Ford.

In a related move, Neil Schloss will add the role of chief financial officer of Ford Smart Mobility LLC, a subsidiary focusing on mobility services. Schloss has been vice president and treasurer. Schloss will report to Bob Shanks, Ford's chief financial officer, and Jim Hackett, chairman of Ford Smart Mobility LLC.
