Mitsubishi Fuso Truck and Bus Corporation (MFTBC), cooperating with Daimler India Commercial Vehicles Pvt. Ltd. (DICV) under the umbrella of Daimler Trucks Asia (DTA), has launched new models into three markets in the Middle East, with others to follow.

In an event held in Dubai on Nov. 18, FUSO launched its new trucks in the United Arab Emirates (UAE), the second-largest export market for FUSO with a market share of around 60% in 2014. These were the light-medium-duty trucks FA, FI, and the medium-heavy-duty trucks FJ, FZ. Ahead of the UAE, new models were also unveiled in Oman and Jordan and will be followed by launches in Qatar and Saudi Arabia by the end of the year, according to the company.

In order to get closer to the local customers, enhance market sensitivity and shorten lead times, a regional center for the MENA region was recently opened in Dubai. The Regional Center MENA, headed by Roland Schneider, is the first of six centers to be opened for Daimler’s commercial vehicles business around the world.

Similar bases will also be established in Central Africa, Southern Africa, South Asia, Southeast Asia and Latin America within the next few months. The center will be responsible for managing sales activities in the following 19 markets; Afghanistan, Algeria, Bahrain, Egypt, Iran, Iraq, Jordan, Kuwait, Lebanon, Libya, Morocco, Oman, Pakistan, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Syria, Tunisia, the United Arab Emirates and Yemen, according to the company.
