MiX Telematics, a global provider of fleet and mobile asset management solutions, has partnered with Umsizi Fleet Management Solutions (Pty) Ltd, a 100-percent black owned fleet management company, as part of the expansion of its channel partner network.
This alliance makes Umsizi the company’s newest channel partner in the Eastern Cape region. MiX Telematics said it has more than 130 channel partners globally, of which 18 are in South Africa.

“This agreement not only sees the development of a partnership but the launch of a fully-fledged fleet and mobile asset management company that offers the full range of MiX Telematics solutions in the region,” said Richard Coates, Sales Director at MiX Telematics (South Africa). “Through our enterprise development strategy and commitment to black economic empowerment, we saw Umsizi as a natural fit for the MiX Telematics brand. Together we embarked on a training process to equip Umsizi with the necessary skills and resources to effectively compete and remain competitive in the fleet management space and to ensure that the company’s service levels reflect that of the overall MiX Telematics brand.”

Umsizi will offer the MiX Telematics portfolio to the region including products and services that provide fleets of all sizes with solutions for efficiency, safety, security and compliance. MiX Telematics will continue to provide support and guidance where necessary, but Umsizi will be 100-percent responsible for all operations in the region, according to MiX telematics

“As a former taxi boss and having been in the transport industry for over 20 years, I saw a gap in the market for a more localized, home-grown fleet management solutions provider within the Eastern Cape,” said Anele Pamba, managing director of Umsizi. “MiX Telematics is a global provider of comprehensive fleet management, driver safety and vehicle tracking solutions – but inherently a local company. This partnership will enable us to grow the business to its highest potential in both the public and private sectors. As we continue to fight unemployment as a country, I believe this cooperation enables us to play our part in creating and developing sustainable job opportunities.”
