Nepal’s demand for light and heavy commercial vehicles has skyrocketed due to the immense reconstructive and development efforts following the devastating April 25 earthquake, which destroyed a significant amount of the country’s infrastructure, reports Ekantipur.com.

Dealers are capitalizing on this disaster by launching promotional and marketing campaigns to boost sales up to 50 percent compared to the same period last year.

Demands for vehicles have exceeded expectations, according to Deepak Thapa, chief executive officer of Eastern Motors, a Nepal distributor of Eicher Motors, who told Ekantipur.com that he has already surpassed their year’s goal target of selling 1,000 vehicles.

The senior sales manager of Infratech, the distributor for AMW commercial vehicles, said he believes the sales spike is due to the various road expansion programs throughout the country.
