The ability to capture a encyclopedic amount of driver data is probably among the most important sea changes in the fleet industry today. During the upcoming Global Fleet Conference in Miami, attendees will learn how one fleet put this to use.

Shounak Athavale, Ph.D., fleet insights and IT Manager for Ford Research, and Christopher Miotke, practice principal/manager - Big Data & Analytics for Hewlett Packard, will present what they found out about the driving patterns of the Hewlett-Packard fleet and transportation in general after Ford Motor Co. installed data-collection devices into the OBD-II ports of a test group of Hewlett-Packard fleet vehicles in the U.S.

The study is part of Ford's SMART Mobility experiments and is one of 25 research projects worldwide to test new mobility ideas and address the growing transportation challenges being faced across the globe.

Produced by Bobit Business Media and Nexus Communication, the Global Fleet Conference, now in its third year, will be held June 15-16 at the Miami Marriott Biscayne Bay in Miami, Fla.
