Israel, Fiat Chrysler Developing NGV Technologies

February 12, 2015

Israel, Fiat Chrysler Automobiles, Iveco, and Magneti Marelli have agreed to develop natural gas automotive technologies to serve that country's vehicle fleet.

The four parties signed an agreement and also initiated a discussion about involving Israeli companies in research around alternative fuels, smart mobility, and other automotive industry-related activities.

The agreement was signed by Israel's Prime Minister's Office through the country’s Fuel Choices Initiative. Other signatories included Iveco's CNH Industrial brand that produces trucks and buses, and component manufacturer Magneti Marelli.

Fiat Chrysler and Iveco develop, manufacture, and distribute vehicles powered by compressed natural gas (CNG) featuring multi-fuel technologies such as Magneti Marelli's powertrain control solutions.

Israel’s Fuel Choices Initiative is a government program, managed through the Prime Minister's Office, dedicated to reducing the world's dependency on oil for transport and supporting the development of alternative fuels. The program’s goal is for a significant portion of Israel’s vehicle fleet to be equipped with alternative fuel technologies by 2020, according to CNH.
