Vauxhall and Renault will each introduce a medium-sized panel van that shares design cues into the European market this summer, the automakers have announced.

The Vauxhall Vivaro and Renault Trafic will be offered with a choice of two lengths — 4,998 mm (197.7 inches) and 5,398 mm (212.5 inches) and roof heights. The new model adds 216 mm (8.5 inches) in length. Passenger versions will also be available.

The vans will include a Renault-developed 1.6L diesel engine with single and bi-turbo variants. The refreshed vans are expected to get 47 miles per gallon combined.

The Vivaro will be offered in base and Sportive trim levels in the LCV segment. Sportive adds chrome accents to the front bumper, grille, side mirror housings, and vertical rear mouldings.

The Vivaro accounts for about 10 percent of all LCV vehicle sales in west and central Europe each year.

Renault and Vauxhall have been jointly developing vehicles in the LCV segment since 2001. A vehicle conversion center opened in 2009 to create specialized variants for specific vocational demands. Additional information about the vehicles will be released closer to their availability date.
