Logistics Company Strengthens Services to South Africa

February 18, 2014

Wallenius Wilhelmsen Logistics (WWL) has introduced a new service departing Santander, Spain, twice a month for South Africa and on to Australia. The enhanced product, which includes additional capacity and extended port coverage, reflects WWL’s ongoing work to extend its services to meet customers’ needs, according to the company.

“WWL is excited to support manufacturer needs for ocean transportation from Spain to South Africa and Oceania,” said Ramon Oliete, head of the Iberia Branch for WWL. “In 2013, a total of 1.9 million cars were produced in Spain. Of that amount 90 percent or 1.7 million cars were exported. As we expect the shift toward greater manufacturing in Spain to continue, it becomes important to strengthen export-bound ocean service here.”

The export service is operated with WWL’s flexible and modern fleet of RoRo vessels, adapted to carry a mix of cars, rolling equipment, and breakbulk. Together with the extended ocean service in Santander, WWL also offers trucking and other inland distribution for the Iberian market.
