WASHINGTON - Both retail gasoline and diesel prices are down from last week, according to the latest fuel updates from the U.S. Energy Information Administration (EIA).

Retail gasoline prices reported June 18 are approximately 4 cents cheaper than last week. The EIA reported the average price per gallon for gasoline at $3.533, compared to $3.572 — nearly 12 cents cheaper than same time last year.

Although California prices are higher than the average ($4.029 for this week), prices are down from last week’s $4.164 per-gallon price.

On-highway diesel fuel prices also dropped since last week, with the average reported to be approximately 5 cents cheaper at $3.729 — 22 cents less than a year ago.
