AUBURN HILLS, MI – Chrysler announced the 2012-MY SXT versions of its Dodge Journey crossover will now come standard with 2.4L four-cylinder engine. The American Value Package and SE models currently come standard with this engine. The four-cylinder engine can deliver 173 horsepower and achieve 26 mpg on the highway, according to Chrysler.

The SXT is also available with the Pentastar V-6 engine, which delivers 283 hp and 25 mpg on the highway, according to Chrysler. V-6 models are also available with an all-wheel-drive system.

The Manufacturer’s Suggested Retail Price (MSRP) for the SXT is $22,995, before destination charges, which is a $1,500 reduction compared with the V-6 model.

SXT models feature 17-inch aluminum wheels, a 4.3-inch Uconnect touch screen, SiriusXM Satellite Radio, push-button start, leather-wrapped steering wheel and shifter, performance fascias with front fog lamps, LED taillamps, premium interior with soft-touch surfaces, four-wheel disc brakes with ABS, seven airbags, among other features. SXT is also available with an 8.4-inch Uconnect Touch Screen, in-seat storage, and integrated booster seats.

In general, Chrysler said the Dodge Journey gets a new, simplified model lineup for 2012 and adds an American Value Package with a starting U.S. MSRP of $18,995.
