Obama Administration to Announce 2017-2025 Proposed CAFE Standards on July 29

July 27, 2011

WASHINGTON – The White House’s press secretary announced in a statement that the President plans to announce proposed corporate average fuel economy (CAFE) targets for model-year 2017-2025 cars and light-duty trucks on Friday, July 29.

Speculation about what the mpg targets will actually be has ranged from a high of 62 mpg to somewhere in the 40s, although according to a Wall St. Journal article, the target number for CAFE will be 54.5 mpg.
