Biodiesel Company Proposes $65 Million Plant in Connecticut

December 17, 2007

SUFFIELD, Conn. --- A biodiesel company based in Hartford has applied to build a $65 million plant that would process refined vegetable oils, fatty acid oils and used grease to produce 50 million gallons of biodiesel annually, the Hartford Courant reported. The project application has already drawn protests from a local citizens group dubbing itself "Know Bio." The group argues that the plant would pose a fire hazard and generate too much truck traffic in the area. The application calls for a 25,000-square-foot plant on 17 acres.
