November 05, 2007

CHICAGO --- Ten Shell stations in Chicago are participating in a pilot program testing the use of biometric systems that let customers scan their fingerprints on a payment device. The system ties individual customer fingerprints to their checking or credit-card accounts, according to a report in the Daytona Beach News-Journal. Customers scan their fingerprints at a kiosk inside the gas station. The aim of the trial is to see if this system creates a more convenient and quicker way to pay for filling up.
