Merrill Lynch Begins Two Indexes Tracking Biofuel Raw Materials

NEW YORK --- Spurred by greater demand for alternative fuels, Merrill Lynch & Co. has decided to launch two indexes tracking raw materials used in the production of biofuels, Bloomberg reported. The MLCX Biofuels Index will track seven commodities, including sugar, corn and rapeseed. The MLCX Biofuels Plus Index includes the seven commodities along with gasoline and diesel. Merrill Lynch is the third largest securities firm in the U.S.
