Hertz to Add 3,400 Priuses to Rental Fleet

NEW YORK --- Car rental giant Hertz Corp. announced plans for a $68 million investment in 3,400 Toyota Prius hybrid vehicles, 100 of which will be designated for the company's Manhattan fleet. Hertz customers will be able to reserve the Prius. The cars will be part of the company's Green Collection. More than 64 percent (268,000 cars) of Hertz's rental fleet achieve 28 mpg or better fuel efficiency, and 42.4 percent (176,500 cars) of the fleet achieve 34 mpg or better fuel efficiency, the company said.
