SAN FRANCISCO – The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency has recognized PG&E for its clean natural gas vehicle fleet, winning the Environmental Achievement Award for its partnership with Quality Terminal Services (QTS) and CleanAir Transport. The successful efforts have displaced as many as 5,000 gallons of diesel fuel. The partnership, which began in 2005, replaces aging diesel vehicles with cleaner burning natural-gas vehicles. The fleet includes 11 liquefied natural gas (LNG) trucks in use at the port in addition to a compressed natural gas (CNG) port shuttle truck loaned to CleanAir Transport by PG&E, which is utilized for fixed route use between the shipping terminals and the railroad yards.
